I never envisioned my career path when I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in Elementary Education in1968.  I spent four years as an elementary teacher and then I earned my M.A. in Psychology in 1971 from the University of   Northern Colorado.  My career was happily interrupted by the births of my two children.  After returning to work, I worked as a community college instructor for a short time and then as a therapist for six years at a community mental health agency.  Later, I spent six years doing outreach family therapy in two large counties, visiting schools, homes often in public housing projects.  After several threats to my life I decided to leave that position!

Upon opening a part-time private practice, I was able to enjoy that for over twenty years.  My work included working for two Employee Assistance Programs and a county program to assist parents who were divorcing.  I also spent fifteen years working as a counselor/dean and prevention coordinator for a large suburban school district.  This position remained challenging until the day I retired.  I also enjoyed facilitating small groups for my church at this time.

In my retirement I have been volunteering at an agency for abused children and facilitate groups at my church. I also enjoy teaching water fitness at my active adult community and at the YMCA. I enjoy reading, Yoga, Pilates, swimming and golf .
